Recent works for a post-production house in London’s West End
Recent works for a post-production house in London’s West End required Quantech to carry out out-of-hours work where Fire Escape stairs had to be dismantled (and subsequently re-assembled) in order to remove a redundant condensing unit and install a replacement system serving a basement office. A new 5kW Toshiba wall mounted unit was selected providing the client with a Heat Pump solution involving an energy efficient inverter compressor using the latest R401a refrigerant. The fact that the condensing unit was of lower height than other units of comparable duty allowed its positioning under the stairs.
This same project included the installation of another air conditioning system in a cramped Server/Comms room. The solution here was to install a unit below the ceiling level; the interconnecting pipework was routed through existing ducting to an external location where the condensing unit was mounted at the rear of the building. Due to space constraints, a supporting structure had to be built to allow the condensing unit to be mounted above other existing units; in addition, given the weight of the unit (in excess of 113kg), a temporary frame was constructed to allow the unit to be winched into place using a “block and tackle”. Finally a bespoke decorative screen was built around the unit to keep the rear courtyard as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
